enlightenment

she is a beauty whose sadness draws me;
a single tear floods my soul,
opening up ninety-nine worlds;
a chaste garden giving birth to Life.

It is unexpected where we find enlightenment and even more unexpected how this enlightenment appears when it is found. It is the simplest of things to acquire; yet the most brave and adventurous soul rarely encounters it. Enlightenment is a leaping forth through open fields in a secure prison, and a quiet mourning Christmas day. It is in letting go and holding on, something won with sweat and gained in silence. It walks without moving, talks without speaking, and sleeps with eyes wide open.

When one is free “like this”, there are no laws, no lines, no difference; all questions have the same answer; God is everywhere all in all.

what does it mean?

what does it mean when the police say they will arrest you if you do not cease to converse with the children living on the streets?

it means …

eden’s trees are getting thin;

the snake poisons the heal as it is crushed,
the herbs are sweet and wine runs bitter,
the samaritan walks past,
the labourers are paid for their hours,
the vineyard is trampled,
there are no wedding garments to be had,
the baskets are empty,
the son is in prison,
the christ is drowning,
the dead are rising from the sea.

So Slow?

Last night
As I danced with God
She kissed me quite suddenly

That I asked,
“So fast?”

And she responded,
“So slow?”

And for this I should like to warn you friend –
If you would think to ask Her to a dance

That She is not at all
One for dawdling.

holy frets

10 years now lost to find shes been born a different kind
cant keep ever in here so small
cant leave cant stay cant rise cant fall…
sweetness of that which stands between
to shed a soul of darkness lies
now to start beauty lets splayed across most holy frets.

some words, a story

broken, slipping, uncertain, tripping
deciding being, seeking freeing
initially doubtful, hopefully faithful
——-

I heard a story of a young girl who wanted to be a tree. She would frequently walk to the woods and return talking all sorts of religious nonesense. One cool morning as the fog was hiding all to everyone except those willing to go for a closer look, this young girl again as usual walked out to the forest. She dug a hole about a foot deep, removed her sneakers and stepped in with both feet bare. She returned the dirt to the hole, packed it down well, and extended her arms to the heavens. The story ends there, the forest is no longer where it was when this all took place, and no one is quite certain what happened to this young girl. Anyways, I am inspired, and would like to be a tree.

In Memory – December 26, 2004

I wrote this in memory of our beloved brothers and sisters who were taken from us on September 26th in Bangladesh, Burma, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Maldives, Malaysia, Seychelles, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Thailand. Let us always remember with Life and Love. Let us pray for their souls, and for all who are able please send assistance as the devestation is enormous and many of those effected extremely poor. Two organisations that are taking donations currently are the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and World Vision.

I have nothing to say

but sadness

as I walk carelessly

over your cold,

wet grave.

You were nothing

before to me.

I had not known you

until I heard

of the mighty waters

that swallowed

your bodies,

your dreams,

your love.

Then I remembered

the Friend,

and as I thoughtlessly danced

over your cold,

wet grave,

I felt the water warm

and your bodies,

your dreams,

your Love,

splash upon my body

and soak into my skin.

I have been told a tale

of Love calming a storm

and raising the dead.

Now this storm

has calmed

and you will be raised –

only please remind us

to dance and Love,

and drench us in your dreams!
